Late Aacharya Sudama Prasad Dwivedi - The Founder of Suhane Geet Archives

11 July 1922 - 27 July 1995

Aacharya Sudama Prasad Dwivedi, was a person of multi faceted talents. He was Educationalist, Writer, Poet, Dramatist, Indian Classical Musician and an Astrologer of international fame. Collection of Indian Music records was his another hobby. On his first death Anniversary on 27th July 1996, a book 'Shesh.. Nishes.. (Aacharya Dwivedi Smriti Granth)' containing about 400 pages was published which included selected pieces of his published and unpublished creations in the fields of Poetry, Drama, Music and Astrology. On the same day, ADCF (Aacharya Dwivedi Cultural Foundation) was established with a view to further research, collect and organize his creations in all the fields which are scattered around with his friends and disciples all over the globe. 'Suhane Geet Archives' is a collateral wing of the ADCF, to take care of the huge collection of Vinyl's and Tapes collected by Aacharya Dwivedi during 1935 to 1995. He had started his record collection at the tender age of 13 in 1935, when he was first gifted with a Gramophone (Choodi Wala Baja) and few records (Tawa's) by his father, the then Zamindar in a Riyasat in Central India . The 'Suhane Geet Archives' has been constantly organizing, cleaning, handling, digitizing and maintaining the database of this massive music collection of more than 30000 songs. It has been decided by the ADCF that this Treasure of rare songs from the Bygone Era be introduced to all for the purpose of Education, discussions and information on a purely 'Non Profit Organization' basis.

Our sincere thanks..

While collecting, editing and compiling all the information contained in the site, we had to refer a lot of people and a lot of published material. Suhanegeet Team is highly thankful to all of the persons and organizations who have directly or indirectly helped us in building such a complex website. It was not possible to indicate due courtesy at the relevant places and with relevant information due to technical reasons, therefore we are giving below a list of books and publications referred to :

Dr. Robert Black : Our friend in Brussels, Belgium. A Sound Engineer by profession. He has helped us to recover, repair and has practically given a re-birth to hundreds of songs, which were recorded from badly damaged and scratchy 78 RPM records and were really not audible. Dr. Black does not understand a single word of Hindi or Urdu, but in his own words, - "Indian music is the most melodious I have ever listened". Our sincere thanks to all the tedious work he has done to revive the rare music of bygone era.

Mr. Harmandir Singh 'Hamraaz' : Our friend in Kanpur, India. Mr. Hamraaz has done an impossible-like-task in the field of Indian Film Music. He has collected the details of ALL the film songs produced in Indian Film History, right from 1931, when Indian Cinema started "Talking", up till date. He has collected the details of Film, Song title, Music Director, Lyricist, Year of Production and the Record number. He has published the "Hindi Film Geet Kosh" in various volumes, decade wise. We have been immensely benefitted with his books to correct our data and properly arrange it. We are highly thankful to him and his 'Mammoth Efforts'.
